Avatar Paragraph

Hi, my name is Dr. Quack, and I was made by Baylor Andrews. I am the first talking hotdog in the world. Baylor and I were best friends, and I can do anything. After a long time he created a talking hamburger. All three of us were best friends until he ate us. Discovery is my favorite subject because you learn new things every single day.

PROBLEM:

How Do We Build a Catapult?

ASK:

What is Our Challenge?

The Angry Bird Competition is on … Angry Bird and Piggy Friends unite! To retrieve your stolen eggs, Angry Birds, your team will need to build a catapult with only the materials provided to you, as outlined in the following steps of this “Small Group Challenge: Marshmallow Catapults”:
Challenge: Each group will design and build a marshmallow catapult using the following materials: 1 meter of masking tape; 2 plastic cups; 4 rubber bands; 2 plastic spoons; 2 paper clips; 15 cm x 15 cm piece of cardboard; large (standard size) and small (mini size) marshmallows to launch.
Goal: Launch a marshmallow at least 5 meters (in the air) and not outside of a ½ meter width.

A catapult is a weapon that is used to throw heavy objects, and it can throw up to 460 meters. A catapult gets its energy by rope, because you just cut the rope and the object goes in the air. The items I need to build a catapult are wood, string or rope, duct tape, plastic spoon, and scissors.

What are Some Solutions?

What is the Best Possible Solution?

Why did Our Team Choose This Solution?

What could we have done better? We could have been more careful with the materials we used and how we were building. Our team could do this because our catapult did not go far and there were a lot of pieces of tape in places that we did not need. We chose this as a solution because it will help us shooting the marshmallow. This is what we should have done better.

What works, what doesn't work, and what could work better from Our Testing?

What are We going to do to address the Challenges We Faced with Our Construct?

What worked or did not work? Our shooting did work during the testing because we made a new catapult that was better. What did not work was the accuracy of the catapult. We are going to work better on our aiming, and if that is really good, then we will have a good chance to win the competition. I am glad we made a new catapult.
